Gírle Guairle

Nonsense name of a fairy woman spinner in an Irish variant of the Rumpelstiltskin story. Gírle Guairle agrees to spin and weave for a mortal woman, if only she will remember her difficult name. At first the mortal woman forgets, but later, to Gírle Guairle's anger, she remembers.
