Cromer, Gabriel (1873-1934), French photographer and photographic collector. He joined the Société Française de Photographie in 1912 and organized part of its major historical exhibition in 1925; in 1927 he became its librarian. As a collector he acquired c. 700 daguerreotypes, many rare items of equipment, and a huge photographic library. Part of the collection was bought in 1939 by Eastman Kodak and shipped to America just after the outbreak of war. The rest was acquired some years later. The whole collection is held by the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House.
