Gabriel Girard

Girard, Gabriel, abbé (1677-1748). French grammarian, remembered for his influential dictionary, Synonymes français (1736, originally published 1718 as La Justesse de la langue française), which was much used by Diderot and his colleagues for the Encyclopédie.
