Gadabay (Gədəbəy in Azerbaijani, Gadabek/Гадабек in Russian) is a rayon of Azerbaijan renound for its potatoes and its gold fields. The famous Siemens company
worked here in the Tsarist era claiming that they were exporting copper. However it has been
recently revealed that in fact they were actually secretly exporting gold. The gold mining
operation has recently resumed[1]
Gadabay and the rayon of Tovuz surround Artsvashen, an exclave of Armenia which has been controlled by Azerbaijan since its capture during the Nagorno-Karabakh War.
