Biography
Popular makeup stylist Gail Ryan has been coiffeuse to the stars since the early '80s. Her work on the crowns of such stars as Ray Liotta and Leslie Nielsen found the stylist in high demand in the late '80s and throughout the '90s. In 2001, Ryan shared the Best Makeup Oscar with the man for whom that Oscar category was originally conceived, makeup and special effects guru Rick Baker. With over 7,000 makeup appliances, Ryan and Baker's imaginative creations for Ron Howard's Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas brought the colorfully animated Christmas favorite to the flesh with their elaborate makeup designs for both the denizens of Whoville and the insidious Grinch himself. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
