Galactokinase

(biochemistry) An enzyme which reacts D-galactose with adenosinetriphosphate to give D-galactose-1-phosphate and adenosine diphosphate.

An enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of galactose in the presence of ATP.

An enzyme that catalyzes the first step in the metabolism of galactose, the transfer of a phosphate group from ATP to galactose, producing galactose-1-phosphate.
