(b Brichevo, 1 May 1927). Israeli conductor and composer of Russian birth. He studied in Milan and Paris. His conducting début was with the Israel PO (1955) which he took on a tour of the USA in 1960; he has appeared with the ECO (1965) and other British orchestras. He has given several first performances. His compositions include music for the stage and choral arrangements.
