(b Barcelona, 30 Sept 1897; d Madrid, 24 Dec 1966). Spanish cellist. He studied under his father (the composer Joaquín Cassadó Valls, 1867-1926), at Barcelona Conservatory and with Casals in Paris. A fastidious artist with warm tone and sure technique, he was noted as a chamber-music player and a partner in Brahms's Double Concerto with Huberman and Szigeti. His compositions include an oratorio, a cello concerto and much chamber music.
