Gayle Elizabeth Harris was ordained as Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts in 2003, succeeding Barbara Clementine Harris.
This is the first time in the Episcopal Church in the USA that one woman bishop has been succeeded by another woman bishop.
