FBI mugshot of Gene Gotti's August 1983 arrest for dealing heroin.

Gene Gotti (born 1946) is a New York mobster who belongs to the Gambino crime family who was a major drug trafficker in New York. Born to John and Fannie Gotti, Gene has four brothers: John, Peter, Richard, and Vincent Gotti. Gene became a Gambino associate around 1966, a made man in 1976, Capo in 1985, and reduced to soldier due to incarceration in 1989. Gene and his friend Angelo Ruggiero, were dealing heroin against boss Paul Castellano's rules and he was going to have them killed. According to testimony by Gambino underboss Salvatore "Sammy Bull" Gravano, Gene Gotti was involved in a number of mob murders. He has never been charged with any of these murders. To his brother John Gotti's eternal fury, Gene, whom John considered inferior in every possible respect, was an amazingly lucky gambler. Gene loved to irk John on occasions by how he triumphed on a nine-to-one shot at the horse racetrack, at a time when John, according to rumors around the Bergin Hunt and Fish Club, "couldn't win a bet on the color of his own underwear."

Gene was convicted in 1989 of selling drugs and received a 50-year prison sentence. As of February 2009, Gene Gotti is still imprisoned at the United States Penitentiary (USP) in Pollock, Louisiana. His projected release date is September 14, 2018.

He is portrayed in the made for television movie Gotti by actor Scott Cohen.
