Biography

Infamous for their bondage/S&M image, the Genitorturers are an industrial-influenced alternative rock band that has enjoyed a passionate cult following and is especially popular in the fetish community. The name alone is controversial -- among fetishists, the term "genitorture" refers to sadomasochistic acts performed on a person's genitals. Lead singer Gen is a real-life dominatrix who has described the Marquis de Sade as a "literary master," and the band's over-the-top live shows have included piercings, whippings, spankings, and a variety of other kinky activities. Formed in Tampa, FL, in the early 1990s, the Genitorturers (whose other members include bassist David Vincent, keyboardist V. Stilletto, guitarist Chains, and drummer Racci Shay) recorded their debut album, 120 Days of Genitorture, for IRS in 1993. Subsequent releases included 1998's Sin City, 2000's Machine Love, and 2002's Flesh is the Law. With tours of the U.S., Europe, and Japan, the group gained momentum and a fan base that dubbed themselves "Genheads", showcased in the 2007 DVD Live in Sin City. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

The Genitorturers are an industrial metal/industrial rock band from the United States, with influences extending into the 1990s Hardcore punk and Electronic music. They proclaim themselves to be "The World's Sexiest Rock Band".

Originating in Orlando, Florida, the band was founded by lead singer Gen while attending pre-med. The Genitorturers made their debut and progressed in the 1990s Florida "Hardcore" music scene with contemporary bands such as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids that would also become a success in later years. According to the band's official web page biography: "What emerged would be a band that would go beyond shaking up the house that 'Mickey' built and extend to paving the way and breaking ground for performance based music artists thereafter worldwide".

The Genitorturers were actually called The 'Festering Genitorturers'. Fronted by Marisa (vocals), Yvonne (guitar), Gen (bass), Larry (guitar), Mike (drums). First performance was at the Ocean Club in Cocoa Beach, Florida late 1986. Also on the bill was Declared Ungovernable, Belching Penguins, and The Rhythm Pigs.

In 1993, IRS Records owner Miles Copeland (who had discovered and nurtured careers for bands such as The Police, Sting, R.E.M., The Go-Go's, The Bangles and Concrete Blonde) sent his assistant Nick Turner (former drummer for Lords of the New Church) to see the band perform. The quality of the performance, as well as their musical style containing fused elements of hardcore punk, metal and industrial electronic led them to a record contract. Soon after that, they would record 120 Days of Genitorture. After recording this album, former Morbid Angel bassist/vocalist David Vincent (Gen's husband) joined the Genitorturers on bass. He left Morbid Angel after the 1995 album Domination to join his wife's band.

The band has done extensive touring in the United States, Japan, and Europe and is internationally renowned for its exploits, pornographic show content, and unique style of music.[citation needed]

Their most recent release Flesh is the Law (EP) includes the track "Lecher Bitch", which was also included in the November 2004 videogame release Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Earlier releases have included Machine Love which contains a remake of the Divinyls' hit “I Touch Myself” which was produced by Dave Ogilvie and Rob Zombie producer Scott Humphrey .

In 2006, they toured Australia, with Australian band Dead Inside the Chrysalis

In the fall of 2007, they released their live DVD Live in Sin, also selling autographed copies on eBay. They announced over MySpace as well as their website that their new album titled 'Blackheart Revolution' will be available in 2009.[citation needed]
