Geographical Analysis Machine

Geography Dictionary: Geographical Analysis Machine

A geocomputation technique developed by S. Openshaw (1997) and co-workers. GAM looks for evidence of localized geographical clustering for variables whose statistical distribution is not known in advance; it helps to answer such questions as ‘Are there any patterns, where are they, and what do they look like?’ (S. Openshaw and D. Abrahart 1996).
