The geology of Hong Kong is dominated by Mesozoic volanic and granitic rocks,[1] which together make up about 85% of the total land area.[2] The remaining area is underlain by Palaeozoic meta-sedimentary rocks,[3] Mesozoic to Cenozoic sedimentary rocks and superficial deposits.[4]
