Kurfürst von Brandenburg Georg Wilhelm
Georg Wilhelm, Kurfürst von Brandenburg (Cölln/Spree, 1595-1640, Königsberg), was a son of the Elector Johann Sigismund. His reign, beginning in 1619, covered the vital phases of the Thirty Years War (see Dreissigjähriger Krieg), and brought Brandenburg to the brink of ruin, from which it was saved by his son (see Friedrich Wilhelm, Grosser Kurfürst).
