Biography
A one-time illustrator turned stage actor and playwright, George Brackett Seitz began in movies as an actor and screenwriter in 1913. Soon after, he revolutionized screen story-telling with his screenplay for the serial Perils of Pauline, and he subsequently directed and starred in several silent serials, a genre that he dominated through the mid 1920s. He turned to features and directed several classics, including Vanishing American (1925), one of the earliest Hollywood films to deal with the plight of Native Americans; the 1936 version of Last of the Mohicans, starring Randolph Scott; as well as numerous entries in the Andy Hardy series at MGM. ~ Bruce Eder, All Movie Guide

Seitz was born in Boston, Massachusetts, started his career as a playwright, but started work in Hollywood in 1913. He was the director of 107 films, the writer of 31 screenplays, and an actor in 7 films. He worked at Columbia Pictures and at MGM where he directed 11 of the Andy Hardy series of films of the 1930s & 1940s. He died in Hollywood, California.
