George Coe is an American actor who has appeared in many films, television shows and on the stage.

He portrayed Ben Cheviot, the eventual head of Network 23, in Max Headroom (TV series). He was also an original member of the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players," the original cast of Saturday Night Live, but he was only credited as a cast member for the first three shows (October 11, 18, and 25 of 1975), often as an announcer in fake commercials. Coe was used in several other episodes of SNL, but was never again credited. In 1979 he appeared as the head of Dustin Hoffman's advertising firm in the Academy Award-winning Kramer vs. Kramer. He was himself nominated for an Academy Award for the 1968 comedy short film The Dove, a parody of Ingmar Bergman's films, which he co-directed as well as starred in. Coe is also known for a guest starring role in "Star Trek The Next Generation". In the 1991 episode "First Contact", he plays Chancellor Durkin, the ruler of an alien planet with whom the Federation is attempting to establish relations.

In 1970 he originated the role of David in the original broadway cast of Stephen Sondheim's Company.

Coe was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York City.
