George Ledwell Taylor (1788 – 1873) was an architect and landowner who lived in London.
Brother of Captain John William Taylor, RN (b.1782) and General Sir Henry George Andrew Taylor GCB (b.1783 d. 1876)
He designed the Garrison Chapel at The Royal Dockyard, Pembroke Dock [1], and Hadlow Castle, Kent.
He also suggested the name for Trafalgar Square.
He was responsible for an extremely fine set of ground plans of the Royal Dockyards of England and the Colonies. He also designed the lock gates and canal to the Mast Pond at Royal Dockyard, Deptford.
George Ledwell Taylor was born on 1 Mar 1788 in London, Eng. He was christened on 26 Apr 1789 in Saint Katherine by the Tower, London, London, England. He died on 1 May 1873 in Broadstairs, Kent, Eng. He was buried in St. Margaret's Lee, Old Churchyard, Kent, Eng.
George married (1) Sibella Margaret Neufville daughter of Jacob Neufville Esq. and Sibella (Sibylla) Phoebe Sutherland on 6 Jun 1820 in Lambeth, London, England. Sibella was born on 4 Jul 1796. She died on 7 Feb 1836. She was buried in Carlisle Tomb in the Old Churchyard, St. Thomas's Church, Lymington.

2. Captain John Henry Taylor was born on 15 Jan 1823 in Saint Martin in the Fields, Westminister, London, Eng. He died in 1887. John married Mary Sarah du Faur daughter of du Faur and Mary E. about Sep 1854 in Marylebone, Middlesex, London, ENG.
3. Rev. Alexander Taylor B.A., M.A. was born in Lymington, Hampshire, Eng. He was christened on 1 Jun 1824 in St. Thomas, Lymington, Hampshire, ENG. He died on 11 Apr 1884 in Gray's Inn, Middlesex, Eng.
4. Commander Alfred Dundas Taylor died on 14 Nov 1898 in Sussex, Eng. Alfred married Eliza Ann Mills "Bessie " daughter of Mills on 15 Jan 1863 in Hackney. Eliza died on 4 May 1891.
5. Sibylla Elizabeth Taylor was born in 1827. She died on 24 Jan 1854. The cause of death was Child birth. Sibylla married Arthur Ridgway Poyntz son of Major Arthur Poyntz on 2 Aug 1851 in Masulipatan, India.
6. Colonel Frederick Sherwood Taylor was born about 1829. He died on 18 Sep 1880 in Naini Tal, India. Frederick married Marion Emma "Minnie" Dale daughter of Clement Dale and Marion Christian Montagu Taylor on 9 Jul 1861 in Holmwood Surrey, England. Marion was born on 6 Mar 1842 in At Sea. She died on 3 May 1897 in Pisa, Italy.
7. Amy Ledwell Taylor was born in 1830. She died after Apr 1881. Amy married John Wood Rideout in 1851. John was born in 1827. He died on 13 Dec 1904.

9. Emma Neufville Taylor was born in 1831. She died on 15 Feb 1836.

George married (2) Charlotte Wright daughter of James Wright MD on 20 Nov 1839 in Saint James, Paddington, London, Eng. Charlotte was born about 1791. She died on 4 Sep 1851.
George married (3) Harriet Ann Dale daughter of Thomas Simons Dale MD and Sarah Headington on 21 Jul 1855 in St. Georges Hanover Square, London, ENG. Harriet was born in 1802/1803. She was christened on 3 Jun 1805 in St. Botolph Bishopsgate, London, London, Eng. She died on 28 Feb 1863.
