Georgetown GO Station

Georgetown GO Station is a GO Transit and VIA Rail railway station. It is the western terminus for the GO Transit's Georgetown line, although between 1990 and 1993 some GO trains continued to Guelph, which is now connected to the system by feeder buses from the Guelph Bus Terminal in addition to three trains in each direction per day operated by VIA Rail on the Toronto-Sarnia route. The station also includes a yard which can store four GO trains overnight or over the weekend to keep the train's batteries charged. It is located at 55 Queen Street in Georgetown, near Mountainview Road North.

The Georgetown GO Station has two parking lots to accommodate growing demand for public transit. The main parking lot and station building are located on the south side of the tracks adjacent to the bus loading/unloading zone. Access to GO trains is only available via the passenger tunnel next to the station building. Ticket sales are available during peak hours with an attendant, as well as during evenings during the last few days of every month. During the summer months, service to Guelph, Ontario and The University of Guelph is modified due to the drop in ridership, although in 2008, weekend service was expanded.

Expansion of the Georgetown GO line will be coming in the near future. According to the GO Transit Rail Improvement Program (GO TRIP), proposed projects will improve rail infrastructure along GO’s Georgetown line, through west Toronto. GO has completed an Individual Environmental Assessment (IEA) to further study these expansion plans and to examine alternatives for an airport transportation link.

The assessment has two components. One examines proposed improvements along GO's Georgetown South rail corridor that would meet the increasing demand and future need for GO Train service to the communities along the corridor, running between Halton and Peel Regions and the City of Toronto. The second is to examine alternatives — both within and outside the Georgetown South rail corridor — for an airport transportation link, including the proposed Air-Rail Link (ARL) service, between Union Station and Lester B. Pearson International Airport.

Access to the VIA Rail platform is available on the north side of the station building. VIA passengers can wait in the station building during the posted GO ticket hours, but the station also opens for VIA passengers a half hour before each VIA arrival.
