Georgia Rhythm

Album Review: Georgia Rhythm

Review

While it's true that the Atlanta Rhythm Section were another wild-eyed Southern guy band playing their own brand of redneck rock and blues, they were also much more. They had a pair of songwriters who could come up with solid hooks and pop songs whenever necessary, it seemed, to pull the band back into the spotlight when their star began to fade, and this worked -- literally -- for years. In addition to this, they could shift their identity without losing it, thanks to rich harmonies and yes, a killer and diverse rhythm section. This live compilation assembled by SPV's Yellow label proves it with hits like "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight," "So into You," "Champagne Jam," and "Dog Days," making this as fine an introduction to the band as you are likely to find. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
