Gerald P. Gallivan

Gallivan, Gerald P. (1920- ), playwright. Born in Limerick, he moved to England before returning to work at Shannon Airport. He wrote over twenty five stage plays and many scripts for radio and television. From Decision at Easter (1959), to radio works on Gladstone (The Final Mission, 1991), and the siege of Limerick (Prophecy, 1992), he explores Irish political history. Among his best-known plays are: Mourn the Ivy Leaf (1960) about Parnell, The Stepping Stone (1963), The Dáil Debate (1971), and Dev (1977).
