US Military Dictionary: German High Command

The highest command headquarters of the German armed forces. In World War II, the Wehrmacht High Command in German, the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht or OKW was headed by Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel and, under Adolf Hitler's direct supervision, directed the conduct of the war.
