Gilbert Francis Lani Damian Kauhi (born October 17, 1937, Honolulu, Hawaii – May 3, 2004), also known as Zulu and Zoulou, was an American actor, musician and stand-up comedian most known for his burly character "Kono Kalakaua" on the television program Hawaii Five-O for the series' first four years.
Death
A native Hawaiian, Kauhi was an accomplished surfer and was known in Hawaii by the honorific of a Waikiki Beach Boy. He died in Hilo, Hawaii, aged 66 years, from complications from diabetes.
