Giovanni Battista Crivelli

(b Scandiano; d Modena, March 1652). Italian composer. A musician in the service of Maximilian I of Bavaria, he was maestro di cappella at Milan Cathedral (1638-42) and S Maria Maggiore, Bergamo (1642-48). One of the most talented lesser composers to adopt the concertato style in motets and madrigals, he published a set of each in 1626, also contributing to the opera La finta savia (1643).
