Gizmondo Europe

Company Bio

Based in Farnborough (near London), U.K., Gizmondo Europe was established in 2002 as a subsidiary of U.S.-headquartered Tiger Telematics. Gizmondo Europe was incorporated to produce a handheld system, called Gizmondo, which uses Tiger Telematics' GPS- and GSM-based technologies to offer portable multimedia entertainment and to expand the possibilities of mobile gaming.

The original Gizmondo handheld device launched in the United Kingdom on October 29, 2004. Despite aggressive marketing and accessible support, the product failed to meet sales expectations. In an early-2006 Securities Exchange Commission filing, Tiger Telematics disclosed that it would be forced to liquidate Gizmondo Europe. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
