Gongliao or Gungliau (traditional Chinese: 貢寮鄉/摃仔寮pinyin: Gòngliáo Xiāng; Wade-Giles: Kung4-liao2-hsiang1Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Khong-liâu-hiong, Khong-á-liâu-hiong; literally "gift hut") is a rural township in the eastern part of Taipei County in northern Taiwan (ROC). The area of the township is approximately 99.97 square kilometers. There are about 14,077 people living in the township.

In 2009 the entire county wis due to become a city in its own right: a special municipality called New Taipei. [1]

Aodi

Aodi (sometimes Audi, Aoti, Auti) is a small fishing village in Gongliao Township, Taipei County, in the Northeast corner of the island of Taiwan. It is a popular tourist destination owing to its scenic setting and many seafood restaurants. It is also close to the controversial Fourth Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP), under construction since 1996. A nearby beach, Yenliao, was the site of the first landing for the occupation of Taiwan (Formosa) by Japanese forces (1895).

Gongliao is served by the Yilan Line Railroad of Taiwan Railway Administration.

Other features

Taiwan's fourth nuclear power plant is under construction in Gongliao. Construction of the plant is opposed by most of the community's residents.
