Gouveia (Portuguese pronunciation: [ɡo(w)ˈvɐjɐ]) is a city and a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 300.6 km² and a total population of 15,792 inhabitants. The city itself has a population of 3,759.[1]
The municipality is composed of 22 parishes, and is located in the District of Guarda, Region: Centro; Sub Region: Serra da Estrela.
The present Mayor is Álvaro dos Santos Amaro, elected by the Social Democratic Party.
The municipal holiday is the Monday after the 2nd Sunday of August.
