Accounting Dictionary: Government Fund

Term used in Government Accounting to apply to all funds except for the profit and loss funds (e.g., enterprise fund, internal service fund, and trust and agency fund). Examples of government funds are the general fund, special assessment fund, and capital projects fund. Governmental funds use the Modified Accrual accounting method.
