The Gowanda Correctional Facility is a medium security prison for males located in New York, United States. The prison is located in the south part of Erie County in the Town of Collins. It is co-located with the Collins Correctional Facility, another medium security prison. Both prisons are located north of Village of Gowanda at the southern end of Erie County.

History

Already part of the property had been taken for the Collins C.F. in 1982. In 1994, the remainder of the property was taken for the newer Gowanda C.F. The two prisons are separated by a fence and are administered independently.

History

Gowanda Correctional Facility was developed from the former Gowanda State Hospital, which itself was constructed on the former property of Quaker missionaries to the Seneca tribe.
