Graham John Yost (born September 5, 1959) is a Canadian film and television screenwriter. His most famous works are the hit 1994 film Speed (but crediting Joss Whedon with writing most of the film's dialogue. [1]), Broken Arrow, and Hard Rain.

He has also written for the television series Herman's Head, Band of Brothers, and Boomtown. More recently, he was the creator of the short-lived NBC drama Raines. In 2010, Lawman premieres on FX, a series for which Yost served as creator and executive producer.

Born in Toronto, he is the son of Canadian television personality Elwy Yost, the longtime host of the public broadcaster TVOntario's Saturday Night at the Movies.

He lives in California.

Awards & nominations

Yost won the Emmy several years ago for his involvement in the mini-series "From the Earth to the Moon." Graham had been one of the writers for the show.

Future projects

The Yost FX pilot is based on Elmore Leonard's story "Fire in the Hole," about a federal marshal in Kentucky. It will focus on both his work and his personal life, which includes an ex-wife and his father. Yost will exec produce with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly. It has been announced that he will write the story for the new Major Matt Mason movie scheduled for release in 2012 with Tom Hanks. He also hopes to make an comedy/action based movie in the next ten years.
