Grainger is one of the UK's largest public residential property investment firms. Founded in 1912, the company owns and manages some 14,000 apartment properties in the UK and another 7,000 in Germany. Its UK portfolio includes primarily tenanted rental homes (which are regularly sold upon being vacated), as well as nursing homes. The firm develops and brokers new residential and mixed-use properties, as well. Grainger is involved in a handful of joint ventures that are developing residential properties in other parts of Europe such as the Czech Republic. After slowing acquisitions during the economic downturn, Grainger stepped back up in 2010 to buy Sovereign Reversions, an equity release investment specialist.
