Grand View is a city in Owyhee County, Idaho, United States. The population was 470 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Grand View is located at 42°59′5″N, 116°5′36″W (42.984803, -116.093277)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (3.51%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there were 470 people, 187 households, and 126 families residing in the city. The population density was 329.9/km² (856.7/mi²). There were 228 housing units at an average density of 160.1/km² (415.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.77% White, 1.91% Native American, 4.04% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.60% of the population.

There were 187 households out of which 34.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.7% were married couples living together, 12.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the city the population was spread out with 30.9% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 95.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $21,417, and the median income for a family was $26,000. Males had a median income of $25,417 versus $27,917 for females. The per capita income for the city was $11,402. About 25.0% of families and 28.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 34.9% of those under age 18 and 28.9% of those age 65 or over.
