Album information

Greatest Hits: 1965-1992 was intended for European release only. In 1992 the album was released in Europe and it became a huge success. While many critics in the United States gave negative reviews, the album itself charted in the top 10 in almost every country in Europe. Many American critics gave negative reviews due to the absence of many hits.

AMG described the album as "somewhat random — perhaps focusing exclusively on her rock hits would have been a better choice, because including just a couple of old tracks proves somewhat frustrating." The review would most likely be contradicted by any European critic because this album has exclusive European hits. AMG also points out that other hit songs like "Half-Breed" were not included and it affects the album, however songs like Half-Breed were not as successful as "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" which was a top ten hit in the UK.

Notable hit songs included in this album are "The Shoop Shoop Song" which charted at number 1 in more than 10 countries world wide, "If I Could Turn Back Time" which was her biggest hit at the time and "I Got You Babe". Three new songs were also recorded for this album "Oh No Not My Baby" (originally sung by Maxine Brown), "Whenever You're Near", and a live recording of "Many Rivers to Cross" (originally sung by Jimmy Cliff).
