Review
Annabouboula lived up to the tremendous promise of In the Baths of Constantinople on its superb sophomore effort, Greek Fire. This time, the trio had a minor club hit with the passionate "I'd Rather Set Myself On Fire," and which effectively combines Greek and dance music. The name Annabouboula roughly translates to "all mixed up," and that certainly describes this CD's contents. For these New Yorkers, anything from hip-hop to rock can be combined with Greek musical traditions. The bilengual Anna Paidoussi sings as convincingly in English (her native language) as she does in Greek on an eclectic album that is anything but predictable. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music GuideTracks
