Biography

Formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2002, Grief of War was a death/thrash metal (their description was "Samurai Crunch") band that first made waves in their home country when they released their demo material, a self-titled collection, in 2003. In 2004, the band began to hit stages in Japan, and garnered a healthy response -- enough so that the band signed to local label Yggr Drasill. In May of 2005, Grief of War (Manabu Hirose -- vocals, bass, Hiroyuki Inoue -- guitar, Isao Matuzai -- drums, and Ken Sato -- guitar) released their debut album on the label, A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released. The band then managed to score an international deal with Prosthetic Records, which re-released the album in February of 2008. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
