Review

Like its predecessor, DCC's Groove On, Vol. 2 contains a selection of ten seductive or stylish soul, disco and urban-pop tunes from the '70s. There's not much rhyme or reason behind the featured tunes, but there are no weak songs either, thanks to such highlights as the Main Ingredient's "Everybody Plays the Fool," the Emotions' "Don't Ask My Neighbors," Deniece Williams' "Free," Earth, Wind & Fire's "Can't Hide Love," Natalie Cole's "I've Got Love on My Mind" and Ashford & Simpson's "Is It Still Good to Ya?" Since there's nothing tying the songs together outside of their era, Groove On winds up being nothing more than a sampler.
