Group Army

A Group Army (集團軍), is a major form of Chinese military organization, and is equivalent to field army or army group in other militaries. A Group Army usually exercises command over two or more field armies, or several corps, and other lesser units. The People’s Liberation Army has 18 Group Armies.

By the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the National Revolutionary Army had organized 40 Group Armies. These were roughly equivalent to a field army in other military terminology.
