Maldè, Gualtier (Verdi: Rigoletto). False name used by the Duke of Mantua when he introduces himself to Rigoletto's daughter Gilda. Gualtier Maldè is the ‘dear name’ (caro nome) about which Gilda sings her most famous aria.
