De Ruggiero, Guido (1888-1948) Italian historian of philosophy, and professor at Messina and Rome. He made his name with the thirteen-volume Storia della filosofia (1918-48). Collingwood translated his Storia del liberalismo europeo (1925) as History of European Liberalism.
