Gulf of Venice


Northern section of the Adriatic Sea. It extends eastward for 60 mi (95 km) from the Po River delta, Italy, to the coast of Istria. Marshes, lagoons, and sandspits border the gulf's shores as far as Trieste, Italy. A northeast wind, called the bora, causes rough seas and creates shipping hazards in the gulf.

The Gulf of Venice is a gulf located on the west of the Adriatic Sea, between the Istrian peninsula and the Po River delta. The river of Tagliamento flows into it.

It is the home of the popular destination island Albarella. Coordinates: 45°19′N, 13°00′E
