Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU or IPU) is a University in Delhi, India. The University was established by the Government of NCT of Delhi under the provisions of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya Act, in 1998 and is affiliated to the University Grants Commission.

Vision
The vision of the university is to stimulate both the hearts and minds of scholars, empowering them to contribute to the welfare of the society at large; train them to adapt themselves to the changing needs of the economy, and educate them for cultural leadership to ensure peace, harmony and prosperity for all. Its mission is to strive hard to provide a market oriented professional education to the student community of the India in general, and of Delhi in particular, with a view to serving the cause of higher education as well as to meet the needs of the Indian industries by promoting establishments of colleges and schools of studies as centers of excellence in emerging areas of education with focus on professional education in disciplines of engineering, technology, management, medicine, education, pharmacy, nursing, law etc. It is one of the reputed universities in India.

Although Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was initially set-up to ease the burden of the University of Delhi, it has emerged as a fine alternative to it as well. Guru Gobind Singh university has different departments to impart education in disciplines like-engineering, technology, business management, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, education, and law. There are more than 70 colleges affiliated to it which are run according to the rules and regulation set by the University. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is counted amongst the pioneers of education in India.
Admission
Admissions to various programmes in the University are given on the basis of scores obtained in Common Entrance Test (CET) of the University. The Admission test is conducted in an expeditious, systematic and transparent manner. A prospective candidate has to submit the Application Form and is then immediately issued his/her Roll Number, Examination Center, Date and Time of Examination etc. via a single window system. The results are declared as per the fixed schedule to facilitate time bound counseling as per the university guidelines.
Campus
Located near to Old Delhi, the university campus is in the vicinity of hubs like Chandni Chowk and Daryaganj. The campus is surrounded by heritage buildings like The Red Fort and Jama Masjid. With the introduction of the Delhi Metro to the area, commuting has become an easy task to and from the campus.
The University is currently functioning from its Campus at Kashmere Gate, Delhi spread over an area of 16 acres. On this campus, the University is running 10 schools and One University Maintained College (Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology) imparting professional education to more than 3000 graduate and post-graduate level students. All modern facilities are available within the campus. There is a huge library which contains more than 6350 journals including both, the hard-copy and an online format. It also has separate hostels for boys and girls. The University is a not only a center of academic work but also gives the students ample opportunity to test their skills and make themselves physically strong by playing. There are several playgrounds for students where they can play and refresh themselves.
University's State of Art Campus with ultra-modern facilities in an area measuring 60 acres is coming up at West Delhi (Dwarka). With an aim to provide Research and Development facilities of international standards, the University has decided to set-up an Institute of Information Technology in East Delhi (Surajmal Vihar). For this purpose it has acquired 19 acres of land on which the constructionis likely to start very soon.
