‘Der gute Kamerad’

‘gute Kamerad, Der, ’ a short poem written by L. Uhland in 1809, and published in 1811. It is a soldier's lament for his comrade killed at his side in battle. Its first line runs ‘Ich hatt' einen Kameraden’, and it is sung to a folk-melody.
