Biography

Héctor Giovanni is a salsa vocalist from Puerto Rico who is affiliated with Gilberto Santa Rosa and the label Camínalo Discos. Born in Condado, Puerto Rico, Giovanni cites among his influences La Sonora Ponceña, Rubén Blades, Oscar D'León, Ray Barretto, and El Gran Combo. He made his full-length solo album debut with Paso a Paso (2008). Released by Camínalo Discos, a vanity label of salsa legend Gilberto Santa Rosa associated with Sony BMG, Paso a Paso features the single "A Calzón Quita'o," written by José Aguinada and arranged by Julito Alvarado. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
