Hendrikus Johannes (Johan) Witteveen (born 12 June 1921, Zeist) was Finance Minister of the Netherlands. He became the fifth Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) the September 1, 1973 until June 16, 1978. From 1978 to 1985 he was the first chairman of the Washington based economics body, the Group of Thirty[1]. Currently he is on the Advisory Board and Professor of Economics at the European Management Institute. [2]
