H. Patrick Swygert
H. Patrick Swygert has been the president of Howard University in Washington, DC since 1995.
Career
Formerly president of the State University of New York at Albany, Swygert previously served as executive vice president of Temple University (where he was also a professor of law in the Temple University School of Law). Swygert, a graduate of Howard University Law School, is a professor of law. He is a member of the Commission on Presidential Elections, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, and Omega Psi Phi. Recently, in a letter to the Howard University community, H. Patrick Swygert announced his plan to retire in 2008.[1]
