'Häusliche Szene'

‘Häusliche Szene’, a poem in elegiacs (51 distichs), written by E. Mörike in 1852. It is a ‘curtain dialogue’ headed Schlafzimmer. Präzeptor Ziborius und seine junge Frau. Das Licht ist gelöscht. A mild quarrel develops because the wife has used some special vinegar, the distilling of which is the husband's hobby. In the end harmony is restored.
