Hávarðar saga Ísfirðings (
listen (help·info)) is one of the sagas of Icelanders.
It tells of 'Howard' who had been a viking great in his youth and was once wounded in Scotland and walked ever limp. He had a disagreement with his neighbour Thorbjørn and eventually Howard's son is killed.
He then seeks revenge and gathers men and meets with him but he flees and goes into the see and swimmes but Howard chases him. Thorbjørn climbes up on a small island or rock from the sea and prepares to crush a large rock at Howard, but then Howard is said to have thought of a different faith he had heard of when he was young abroad and sweares that he will take this faith if he comes from this alive. Then Thorbjørn droppes the slippery rock on him self and it was easy for Howard to slay him.
