Haifa District (Hebrew: מחוז חיפה, Mehoz Ḥeifa) is an administrative district surrounding the city of Haifa, Israel. The district is one of six administrative districts of Israel, and the capital of it is Haifa. The district land area is 864 km² (299.3 mi²).[1]
According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, at the end of 2005, the population of the district stood at 858,000, of which 71.27% are Jewish, 18.81% are Arab Muslims, 1.78% are Arab Christians, 2.52% are Druze, and 4.9% are "not classified by religion", and grew at an average annual rate of 0.8%.[2][3]
