Hale, Philip, 1854-1934, American music critic, b. Norwich, Vt. He was music critic of the Boston Post (1890-91), Boston Journal (1891-1903), and Boston Herald (1903-34) and annotated the program notes of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1901 until his death. A collection of his writings was published in 1935.
