Halvergate is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, north of Reedham.[1], halfway between the Rivers Bure and Yare, within The Broads National Park.

It covers an area of 24.65 km2 (9.52 sq mi) and had a population of 468 in 202 households as of the 2001 census.[2] For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Broadland.

The name Halvergate is said[by whom?] to have originated from Hell's fire gate

The long distance footpath named the Weaver's Way passes through Halvergate, and this provides one of the few modes of access to Berney Arms village, railway station and mill.

To the east of the village are the Halvergate Marshes.

The village has a football team Halvergate United which plays in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.
