The Hamptons International Film Festival is a film festival that is held in the Long Island community of East Hampton.

The festival was founded in 1993 to celebrate American Independent films - long, short, fiction and documentary - and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to audiences. The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all.

The event is usually held in October.

The festival was initially the project of Hollywood casting agent Joyce Robinson who had a house in the area. Its first artistic director was Darryl MacDonald who founded the Seattle International Film Festival. Its credibility was further enhanced by film director Steven Spielberg (who has a house in East Hampton) being listed as a "special advisor."[1]
